A Wonderful Whirl of a Wedding Season including lovely reviews!

Eden Barn Whitworth

The wedding season for Juliet Golding Celebrant started early on in January 2023 with the winter wedding of K & M. K hailed from the Eden Valley but now lived with M, originally from Yorkshire, in Sydney, Australia. They had a legal wedding in Oz but felt strongly that they wanted their wedding at ‘home’ to celebrate with their families. Their baby daughter was also meeting family for the first time. Held in the granary @Long Acre Barn, Kings Meaburn, just along t’road from where I live, it was a glorious ‘love fuelled’ occasion.

‘I can’t recommend Juliet enough. She is fantastic and helped make mine and my husband’s day so personal and special. She really got to know us and her service was lovely. Thank you so much.’

All was quiet wedding wise, but busy with funerals, until the end of May. My goodness, the weather couldn’t have been more different. Tuesday 30th May was a scorcher. Fortunately, the beautiful terrace at @Townhead Estate was surrounded by trees which provided some lovely shade. S & A were blending their two families on their marriage and their gorgeous children played important roles in their ceremony.

‘Juliet, you were wonderful, thank you so much.’

June saw another local Eden Valley wedding. It was a real Cumbrian wedding for E & P. Sheep, dogs and keeping the straw dry. Enormous event tipis were put up in their own field. The views across the Eden Valley were ‘awesome’ and so special because it was their back garden!

‘We had a brilliant day, thank you. Lots of people commented on how nice the ceremony was, and how different it was too.’

July saw my first, of many hopefully, wedding at the stunning @edenbarn. Again, so close to where I live. I’m jolly lucky. I’d had the longest relationship of any of my couples with H & G. We’d Zoomed, emailed and met in person in Ambleside prior to their wedding. Another first, was their doggy ringbearers! It makes so much sense to include your fur family on your big day. The sun shone brightly, after rather a wet spell, the brass band got the dancing started and friends and family beamed with shared joy.

‘Juliet was the best celebrant that we could have asked for! She made everything feel so relaxed and easy throughout the planning process and the day was so PERFECT! She really took the time to get to know us and it felt like we had known her for years! The words that Juliet wrote were beautiful and so meaningful, even from the first draft there was barely anything to change. Sometimes you want to express your feelings but you can’t find the words… Well… Juliet found the words! She even found a way to include our furry friends into our day, everything was just magical!’

Talking of wet spells. We then had thirty-one consecutive days of rain (it is called the Lake District, after all) leading up to the wedding of M & M @Augill Castle near Brough. A Canadian couple, living and working in Rotterdam, Netherlands. The guests had flown in from both countries and made quite a cosmopolitan mix in our ‘larl’ rural county. Yes, I presented them with a packet of M & Ms with their presentation script.

‘Juliet was our wedding celebrant August 2023 – she was amazing and I couldn’t recommend her more. Very organized, knowledgeable, and helpful throughout the process. Being new to the whole getting married thing, having someone help us out with suggestions and ideas was great. And to top it off, the ceremony itself was truly wonderful. Thank you, Juliet!’

Let me dwell a while on Loweswater Village Hall as a venue. Being fortunate enough to live in the incredible county you could become a bit blazè about beautiful views around every corner. Not I. The stunning views over Crummock Water, up the Buttermere valley and across the surrounding high fells and peaks, make for the most amazing backdrop to a wedding. I have been fortunate to officiate two weddings there this summer. L & P and C & J had both worked so hard in the build up to their weddings creating and making most of their own decorations, signage, favours et cetera. Whilst guests nibbled on canapès and had a tipple the newly married couple went down to the lakes to make the most of the photo opportunities. L & P and their doggy ringbearer, R,  zoomed of in a Land Rover to Loweswater and C & J, a Jeep to Crummock Water.

‘Juliet put together the most perfect ceremony which was so personal and told out story in such a beautiful way. She took the effort to come and meet us to find out more about us and kept in touch regularly to create a lovely relationship. She made our day so special and we felt comfortable throughout. We knew she had it all covered and we were really well prepared. The words she had written were just beautiful. We can not thank you enough Juliet.’

A & S sprang a surprise on the majority of their guests when I officiated their wedding ceremony @Fallbarrow Hall, on Windermere. They were expecting to celebrate A’s 40th Birthday but instead attended her wedding. It was early evening, on the lawn leading down to the lake. The late summer sun made everything and everyone, glow.

‘Thanks so much for the service, it was the highlight of my weekend. So many people mentioned how they loved your words. ‘

@Lowhall, the lakes is another of the Lake District’s premier wedding venues. K & I were another couple that I had had a longer-term relationship with. I’d met with them and their dear dog, N, when they came up to stay at a B & B in my village. They had been so kind and understanding when I’d postponed meetings when my mum was very poorly and they totally understood when I needed time after mum died.

Their wedding, 18 months in the planning was incredible. (I’m going to run out of superlatives soon!) Every detail was perfectly planned and they’d engaged some of the very best suppliers in the area. Faded elegance meets super stylish.

An early Autumn wedding at the multi award winning @Broadoaks Country House Hotel saw the last of the summer sunshine. I absolutely do not want to jinx this but even though we’ve had a very cool, wet summer, every wedding I’ve officiated has been dry. Just saying! Am I a lucky omen? I’d like to think so.

A & J celebrated their love with family, friends and their gorgeous dog, S.

‘Juliet made our wedding a very special and personal!

It was lovely to meet Juliet face to face as she got to know me and my fiancée at the time… she was able to gauge our dynamic and personalities as couples and individuals.
Juliet sent us a questionnaire which made us reflect a lot about ourselves, each other and our relationship.
All that information was incorporated into our ceremony.

Juliet made our ceremony so personalised and special. Very good communication and very patient with us as we have been busy planning other aspects of the wedding. Juliet is very professional and well organised!’

I have a few more weddings to officiate as 2023 draws to a close. Truly an honour to spread love, hope and joy in this way. Roll on 2024!
