‘To have Joy, one must share it.’

Lord Byron

My name is Juliet Golding and I am a celebrant based in the Eden Valley, Cumbria. I’m on a mission, I always have been, to spread love, hope and joy.

I write and conduct ceremonies and celebrations for couples, children, and final farewells.

How you make other people feel about themselves says a lot about you. I’d like the couples that I marry at their wedding ceremony, the families and friends of those having a naming ceremony and the loved ones of people whose life is celebrated at their funeral, to feel fulfilled.

I, quite simply, want to bring joy, comfort, laughter and ‘sparkle’. Twee as it may sound, I think it’s what I am here for. If people’s faces ache from smiling at the end of the day, then it’s been a day well spent.

The ceremonies I create with you and for you, will be as unique as you. We’ll share love, life and loss.

We’ll support, encourage and inspire each other along the way.

‘Anyone can make you smile, many people can make you cry, but it takes someone special to make you smile with tears in your eyes.’

That’s who I strive to be as your celebrant.

Leading ceremonies that celebrate your love with weddings, vow renewals and commitment ceremonies.

Welcoming little ones to the world and bringing the family together. Children are my specialist subject!

Bidding a fond farewell fit for your loved one. Allowing you to celebrate their life, personality and passions.

About me

Although each ceremony is all about you, my clients and friends to be, you’ll probably want to know who you are dealing with here.

I was brought up on the wonderful Wirral peninsula. Many of my family and friends are still there and I visit as often as I can. ‘You can take the girl out of Merseyside but you can’t take Merseyside out of the girl!’ I will always love the quick wit, creativity and compassion of people from that area and I hope I’ve brought that with me to my rural idyll in Cumbria.

I made the move to the Eden Valley over 30 years ago and have been here long enough to call  it home, although it will take another generation to be considered a local!

My background is full of children. I ran a children’s nursery for many years and have been a primary school teacher until recently.  Indeed, I am now marrying some of the children I have cared for and hopefully, in the future will be holding naming ceremonies for their children!

I embrace everything I do with energy and enthusiasm. I’ve always entertained people, performing as an amateur actress and singer from an early age. The peak of my career was playing Mrs Overall in ‘Acorn Antiques – the musical’, say no more. I sing with a small group and emcee fundraising events in my community.

Nowadays, I’m high on endorphins from exercise but only when living my mantra of ‘having joy by sharing it’. I attend fun fitness classes locally. I’ve recently discovered ‘Boogie Bounce’. Loud music, flashing lights and bouncing up and down on a mini trampoline. I love it!

I’m an avid supporter of Parkrun and should reach my 100th this summer.

Living in the Eden Valley in Cumbria is incredible.

The natural beauty feeds my soul every day, whatever the weather. I share my lovely life with my husband Keith, a dry stone waller, and the light of our lives, our teenage son Toby. Mini Ginny Clementine, the most beautiful ginger cat in the world and our new addition, a kitten called Merry,  make our house a home.

I have been trained and qualified with Heart Led Celebrant Training. I am a member of and insured through the Association of Independent Celebrants.

I ensure best practice and continuous improvement by attending workshops, conferences and conventions.
